MISSION

The mission of the Fitsum Bahru Memorial Foundation is to help disadvantaged Ethiopian youth to access higher education and training, thereby improving their future social and economic outcomes to become productive members of society.

VISION

Working with students with excellent academic records and demonstrated financial need, it is the Foundation's vision to contribute to a world where young men and women in Ethiopia have the opportunity to reach their full potential through university education or vocational training.

The Foundation specifically focuses on helping young Ethiopians who have demonstrated academic excellence and commitment to their education but whose path to success is jeopardized by economic limitations. Through scholarships for university students and sponsored vocational training for other young men and women, the Foundation hopes to prevent students from abandoning their educational pursuits so they may join the workforce and earn income to improve the standard of living for themselves, their families and their community.

The Foundation relies solely on the generosity of its donors to raise the necessary funds for both the university scholarships and sponsorship of trainees that it provides. Staffed solely by volunteers, all contributions directly benefit the young men and women supported through the Fitsum Bahru Memorial Foundation. To ensure maximum impact for every dollar spent, the Foundation partners directly with institutions such as Addis Abeba University, Wollo University and Hope Enterprises, to identify scholarship and sponsorship recipients and administer the funds per our partnership agreements
